Stolen truck loaded with chemicals found in OregonKLAMATH FALLS, Oregon After a month-long search that spread to three states, a fertilizer truck stolen from a chemical company in Merrill has been found in an abandoned building about 65 miles north of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
The truck was still loaded with about 1,700 gallons of liquid anhydrous ammonia, a form of crop fertilizer that also serves as an ingredient for processing methamphetamine.
Oregon authorities are still investigating who stole the truck.
When the truck was reported stolen, the FBI were alerted, and a bulletin went out to officers in Oregon, California and Nevada.
Klamath County, Oregon Sheriff Tim Evinger said at the time that the truck was probably stolen for the anhydrous ammonia. As a precursor ingredient in making meth, that could bring up to $300 per gallon on the black market, Evinger said.
